The city of Allahabad is among the largest cities of Uttar Pradesh and situated at the confluence of three rivers- Ganga, Yamuna and the invisible Saraswati. The meeting point is known as Triveni and is especially sacred to Hindus. The earlier settlements of the Aryans were established in this city, then known as Prayag" Prayagasya Praveshshu Papam Nashwati Tatkshanam. region of Madhya Pradesh. Bounded by the holy waters of the Shipra River, it is considered as one of the seven major sites of Hindu pilgrimage.

1. Allahabad Fourt

Allahabad Fort was built by Emperor Ashoka but repaired by Emperor Akbar in 1583. The fort stands on the banks of the Yamuna near the confluence with the river Ganges. One can achieve the best view from the river side. It is the largest fort built by Akbar. In its prime, the fort was unrivaled for its design, construction and craftsmanship. Saraswathi Koop, which is believed to be the origin of the invisible river Saraswati, is also inside the fort. This huge fort has three galleries flanked by high towers.

2. Allahabad Meuseum

Established in 1931, it is known for its rich collection and unique objects of art, and is funded by Ministry of Culture. The museum is located beside the Chandra Shekar Azab park. It was inaugurated in 1947. The museum has separate galleries 18 of them dedicated and devoted to archaeological findings, natural history exhibits, art gallery and terracotta artifacts. The museum also displays the documents and the personal effects of Jawaharlal Nehru and the Indian freedom movement. The museum is open between 10:30 am and 5 pm. It is closed on Mondays and central government holidays.


3. Allahabad Planetarium

The planetarium was built in 1979 and is situated beside Anand Bhavan the former residence of the Nehru-Gandhi family. There are five shows on any day. Each show is a celestial journey. Each show features interesting and intriguing aspects related to space and astronomy.

4. Anand Bhawan

Anand Bhavan is, in fact, a large mansion established by prominent Indian political leader Motilal Nehru in the nineteenth century. It served as the ancestral home of the Nehru–Gandhi family(late prime ministers of India, Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi were born there). It was constructed by Indian political leader Motilal Nehru in the 1930s to serve as the new residence of the Nehru family when the original mansion Swaraj Bhavan was transformed into the local headquarters of the Indian National Congress.

5. Swaraj Bhavan

The old Anand Bhavan, which in 1930 was donated by Motilal Nehru, a freedom fighter and father of Jawaharlal Nehru, is renamed by Motilal Nehru as Swaraj Bhawan. This building served as the headquarters of the Congress Committee. Now, the premise conducts classes to teach arts and crafts to children.

6. Khusro Bagh

It is a large walled mughal garden surrounding the mausoleums of Khusrau Mirza (died 1622), eldest son of emperor Jahangir, Shah Begum, Khusrau's mother (died 1604), a Rajput princess and Jahangir's first wife, and that of Princess Sultan Nithar Begam (died c.1624), Khusrau's sister. It presents an exquisite example of Mughal architecture

7. Triveni Snagam

A lso called Sangam, Triveni Sangam is the meeting of three rivers: river Ganga, river Yamuna, and the mythical and invisible Saraswathi. The confluence offers excellent view during the sunrise and the sunset. Kumbh Mela (held once in 12 years), kumbh Mela (held once in 6 years), and Magh Mela (held every year) are held on the banks of the Sangam, during which hundred thousands of pilgrims throng to the place to take holy dip in the confluence.

Alfred Park is a public park in Allahabad. It has an area of 133 acres and is the biggest park in Allahabad. It is renamed after freedom fighter Chandra Shekhar Azad, who sacrificed his life here, during the Indian independence struggle in 1931.

Magnificent All Saints Cathedral, Diocese of Lucknow (CNI) is one of the finest examples of 13th century Gothic style buildings in Asia built by the British during their rule in India. It is the finest Anglican Cathedral in Asia. It is also famous as “Patthar Girija”(Church made of stones). In 1871 AD, British architect Sir William Emerson, architect of Victoria memorial, Kolkata, designed this majestic monument.It was consecrated in 1887 but could only be completed in four years.

Chitrakoot means the 'Hill of many wonders'.The Chitrakuta region is included in the District Chitrakuta of Uttar Pradesh and the District Satna of Madhya Pradesh. Chitrakoot Parvat Mala includes Kamad Giri, Hanumaan Dhara, Janki Kund, Lakshman pahari, and Devangana famous Religious mountains.Chitrakuta's spiritual legacy stretches back to legendary ages: It was in these deep forests that Rama, Sita and his brother Lakshmana spent eleven and half years of their fourteen years of exile. 2. Maihar

Maihar is known for the temple of revered mother goddess Sharda situated on Trikuta hill of Maihar. It is said that when Shiva was carrying the body of dead mother goddess (Mai in Hindi) Sati, her necklace(har in Hindi) fell at this place and hence the name Maihar (Maihar = Mai+Har, meaning the necklace of mother).

Sita Samahit Sthal (Sitamarhi) The holy place of Sitamarhi is situated almost midway from Allahabad and Varanasi. It is said that this temple is the place where Mata Sita went into the earth when she willed it; when she was living with Saint Valmiki in the forest of Sitamarhi. It was Saint Valmiki who wrote Ramayana. According to Ramayana when Lord Rama came to Maa Sita (her wife) to ask Her to come with Him. Maa Sita said with folded palm that She served with her all efforts and love and it was time to end this human life (note human life because they were God and Goddess) after She asked Her mother (the earth) to take Her into her lap. She left behind Her two sons Luv and Kush whom Lord Rama took to the Great Ayodhya empire
